Gynecology at Panama Fertility

Did you know that in addition to providing fertility treatments, Panama Fertility offers a wide range of gynecological services?

When should I go for a gynecological consultation?

Generally speaking, the first gynecological examination is recommended for girls between 13 and 15 years of age. Once puberty has begun, it is important to monitor that all organs and functions are developing optimally.

From the first consultation, it is advisable to visit the gynecologist once a year for routine check-ups, or according to the doctor’s indications if abnormalities are found.

In addition to this routine consultation, you should visit the gynecologist if:
  • You present irregular or abundant bleeding.
  • You suffer such strong pains that do not allow you to continue your daily life, either during your period or outside it.

Reasons to go to a gynecologist

You start an active sexual life. Your gynecologist will be able to help you find a contraceptive method according to your needs. In addition, with their advice you will be able to avoid infections and sexually transmitted diseases.

You experience symptoms such as pain during urination or intercourse, burning or itching in the genital area, or changes in your vaginal discharge. You experience discomfort, pain, discharge or other changes in your breasts.

You suspect pregnancy. You are having difficulty conceiving naturally. You experience menopausal symptoms, such as mood swings, hot flashes, excessive sweating, changes in your libido, vaginal dryness, among others.

At Panama Fertility, we have decades of experience taking care of your health. Contact us to learn more about our services.

Annual Gynecological Examination

A routine gynecological checkup is your main ally when it comes to preventing and detecting diseases in your reproductive system, such as endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome, infections and more. Currently, an annual gynecological checkup is recommended from the onset of puberty. In addition, from the age of 25, an annual cytology is performed, which is nothing more than the collection of cells from the cervix that allows the detection of abnormalities through laboratory tests.

Hysteroscopy is a gynecological procedure that makes it possible to explore and visualize the inside of the vagina, the cervix, the endometrial cavity, the uterine cavity and the fallopian tube orifices by means of images.

Intrauterine insemination is a simple form of treatment that helps more and better quality sperm reach the uterus, which will increase the chances of fertilization.

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is an assisted reproductive technique that involves combining eggs and sperm in a controlled laboratory environment and then transferring the resulting embryos into the uterus.

Depending on your age and medical history, it may have been suggested to you that your best chance of achieving a pregnancy is to use donor eggs or sperm. At Panama Fertility we focus on individualized care and creating a treatment plan based on your fertility history.

Whether for medical reasons such as autoimmune diseases or cancer, or personal reasons such as the choice to postpone motherhood, at Panama Fertility we offer a series of fertility preservation treatments that help you have the option and possibility of becoming a mother in the future.

Ovulation induction is a medical treatment designed to achieve the maturation of one or more eggs. This process begins with the administration of stimulating hormones, which promote ovarian stimulation and the growth of one or more follicles.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a method used in reproductive medicine to improve the quality of your eggs, the condition of your uterus and the chances of success of your fertility treatment.

PRP has many applications in medicine because of its high concentration of platelets and growth factors. For this procedure, Platelet Rich Plasma, or PRP, a blood derivative that stimulates the body to regenerate tissues, is used.

Reciprocal IVF is a variation of in vitro fertilization (IVF) that is becoming more and more common among couples who wish to share motherhood. Here we explain a little more about the process.

The Preimplantation Genetic Test (PGT) detects genetic and chromosomal alterations in embryos to prevent serious hereditary diseases. At Panama Fertility we have the latest technology to increase your chances of conceiving.

How to prepare for a visit to the gynecologist?

The first step is to know your medical history. Talk to your family about illnesses such as cancer, hypertension, diabetes and others that may have affected your grandmothers, aunts, sisters and other immediate family members.

In addition, it is important to be clear about the issues you want to discuss with your doctor. If you have specific concerns or questions, write them down to make sure you cover them at the consultation. For example, ask about birth control, bothersome symptoms, or preventive steps such as the HPV vaccine.

Keep track of the medications and dosages you take, including supplements.

In general, it is recommended that you abstain from sexual intercourse 24 to 48 hours before your appointment, as this may affect the results of your Pap smear.

On the day of your appointment, follow your hygiene routine and choose comfortable clothing and be sure to arrive before your appointment time as you will need to fill out some forms. Whenever possible, schedule your check-up for a day when you do not have your period, as this may interfere with what your doctor can do and your test results.
